Furniture, lighting and decorative objects by sugarwave®.
sugarwave® is a design studio creating furniture, lighting and objects at the meeting point of art, architecture and technology. Inspired by nature, texture and the way people experience space, its work brings sculptural forms into everyday life.
The Studio
From lighting and vessels to furniture and installations, sugarwave® explores how objects can shape the atmosphere of a room. Each design considers form, material and function, with an emphasis on tactile surfaces and an expressive relationship with light and space.
Design Through Making
The studio uses repurposed industrial robots and custom 3D-printing paths to translate digital designs into physical objects. Visible layers and flowing textures reveal the making process and become part of each piece’s character.
Material exploration is central to this approach. sugarwave® works with recycled and recyclable materials, selecting them to suit each design and using additive manufacturing to build complex forms with less excess material.
The Team
Founded by Yaxin Zheng, Qi Zhang and Yu Wang, sugarwave® brings together experience in architecture, digital fabrication and interactive design. The team combines technical experimentation with an interest in how people connect with objects and their surroundings.
Selected Exhibitions
The studio’s work has been presented at Design Shanghai, Design Shenzhen and the Wuzhen Theatre Festival, as well as SaloneSatellite during Milan Design Week in 2025 and Alcova in Milan in 2026.
